The 7 game phases

shop

Each player can buy three goods in turn. You then place them on the coats of arms of your cities. This phase is carried out twice in the first round and everyone can therefore buy up to six goods. The price of the goods can be seen on the price board. Next to the city is printed which city owns which goods.

Loaded

At the beginning of the game there are three cars in three cities that can be loaded. Of course, every player wants to load their own goods as quickly as possible. To do this, however, you first have to choose the load master in one action for each individual wagon. To do this, as a fellow player, you take an amount of money into your closed hand or you leave your hand empty and at the same time everyone open their fists. So you can see the highest bid. If there is a tie, then the order of play will be decided.

So that you can distinguish who is the loadmaster, the player places his coat of arms tile in the corresponding city. When all three load masters have been found, the wagons begin to be loaded. The loadmaster places up to three stones of one type on the loading area free of charge. The rest of the players can now load up to two stones from another goods. But they have to pay a price to the loadmaster for this. This is negotiated beforehand. The loadmaster will keep his position until the car has left town.

Move

The carriages are steered by branches in certain directions and can only drive forwards. There can never be more than one car on a field, that also counts for the city. Overtaking is allowed everywhere. The wagons can be moved if you use movement tiles and investment cards. The players in turn choose a movement tile, put it on its face-down side and then advance with his car.

You can only get the river cards if a courier lands at one of them or vice versa. These cards can be used, for example, to load the car free of charge. There are seven different influence cards and the player can choose the one he wants from the deck.

Change price

The players set on the price disc how high the price of the goods should be. If you don't want a price increase, you just put the arrow on your coat of arms. Starting with the starting player, you show the price boards and react with the stones you place.

To sell

This phase can be carried out when at least one car has arrived in a city. The display for car arrivals is always moved up one field when a car arrives. The bank buys the goods according to the given sales prices. If a city has not displayed the goods, you still get the value of the sales price and the bonus that the city pays. The city redefines the bonus marker after each sale. The bonus is moved one space to the right if no car arrives. If there is already a car in a city, the bonus is set to 0.

Invest

Here you auction the four investment cards that are open at the beginning. A player will go away empty-handed, as there is always one less card auctioned than the players. The player who has bid the most is allowed to choose a card first, after which there is a new auction round. Stars are shown on the cards, these show the strengths. You can certainly bid 1,000 guilders for three stars.

Social status

The players pay representation costs depending on the status, the starting price is 0. If the player has no way to pay, then he falls back to his last level where he could still pay. He has the option of taking out a loan, but must also repay it before the end of the game.

Conclusion

A strategic game in which it is important to buy a lot of goods and to keep an eye on which cities the cars could drive to next. Everyone tries to sell their goods at a high price. That is also beautiful interaction with the other players. A lot has to be communicated and negotiated here. Of course, the subject of luck does not play a small role either, because the load master determination is close.

Likewise, it is not always possible to estimate the movement of the car. The courier and the wagons are made of good wood, which is very nice to look at. The instructions are summarized again on the individual boards. The rules themselves are easy to understand. All in all, a successful extension to the predecessor, which is really fun and remains exciting.
